How it works

The knife gate operates like a gate valve, but the gate has a sharp bevelled edge that slices through slurry, fibres, and solids rather than attempting to push them aside. The gate slides into a rubber sleeve seat (replaceable without removing the valve from line) or a metal seat.

Rising stem design provides immediate visual position indication. The full bore design when open prevents settling and blockage in heavy slurry service.

Typical applications

  • Mining and mineral processing slurries
  • Tailings and slurry pipelines
  • Pulp and paper mills
  • Wastewater and sludge handling
  • Cement and fly ash systems
  • Sugar and food processing
  • Fibrous media isolation
  • Abrasive particle and tailings lines

Key features

  • Stainless steel and hardened gate options
  • Metal seat and rubber sleeve seat designs
  • Bi-directional shutoff available
  • Body materials: cast iron, ductile iron, SS316, fabricated steel
  • Wafer and flanged body styles
  • Sizes to DN1200 for large tailings applications
  • Handwheel, gearbox, pneumatic, and electric actuation
  • Rising stem with position indicator
  • Replaceable sleeve seat for in-line maintenance
