How it works

A safety or relief valve is held closed by a calibrated spring. When the inlet pressure exceeds the set pressure, the disc lifts off the seat, discharging fluid or gas to relieve the overpressure. When pressure drops below the set point, the spring reseats the disc.

Full-lift safety valves open rapidly to full bore. Modulating relief valves open progressively in proportion to overpressure. Pilot-operated valves use a small pilot valve to control a larger main valve — allowing set pressure very close to operating pressure.

Typical applications

  • Pressure vessels and boilers
  • Heat exchangers and process equipment
  • Gas cylinders and storage systems
  • Compressor protection
  • Pipeline overpressure protection
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Steam systems
  • Chemical reactor protection

Key features

  • Full-lift safety valves and modulating relief valves
  • Conventional, balanced bellows, and pilot-operated designs
  • In-house and on-site testing and recertification (UKAS accredited facility)
  • Set pressures from 0.5 bar to 700 bar
  • Body materials: carbon steel, SS316, bronze, exotic alloys
  • API 526 and AS 1271 compliance
  • Full NDE and certification on request
  • Emergency supply from stock

VYC Safety Valves

Just Valves is the authorised Australian distributor for VYC Industrial safety valves. VYC manufactures a comprehensive range of safety and relief valves designed to meet the demanding requirements of steam, gas, and liquid applications across all industries. Their product line includes full-lift safety valves (PSV) for rapid discharge, modulating relief valves (PRV) for progressive opening with liquids, and pilot-operated designs for applications requiring minimal differential pressure between operating and set pressure.

VYC safety valves are available in a wide range of sizes (from ½” to DN-500), pressure ratings (up to 95 bar set pressure on selected models), and materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, and exotic alloys for corrosive service. All valves are manufactured in accordance with ASME and EN standards, with full certification and documentation available. VYC’s modern Barcelona facility combines traditional precision engineering with advanced manufacturing processes to deliver reliable, code-compliant safety valves for critical applications worldwide.
