Description

The 316L Stainless Steel Swing Check Valve – Class 800 NPT is designed for dependable backflow prevention in high-pressure and high-temperature service. Constructed from ASTM A182 F316L stainless steel, this valve provides excellent resistance to corrosion, pitting, and chemical attack — ensuring long service life in demanding industrial environments.

Its swing-type disc allows smooth, low-resistance flow while preventing reverse flow automatically when line pressure drops. The hard-faced seats offer superior wear protection and long-term sealing integrity, even under continuous operation. A graphite gasket ensures reliable sealing performance in elevated temperatures and harsh media conditions.

Threaded to ASME B1.20.1 NPT standards, the valve provides precise, leak-tight connections suitable for compact piping systems where welding or flanged connections are not practical.

What is the function of a swing check valve?

A swing check valve allows fluid to flow in one direction while automatically preventing reverse flow. The swing-type disc opens fully during forward flow and closes when flow reverses, helping to protect pumps, pipelines, and downstream equipment from damage caused by backflow or pressure surges.

What types of applications is it suitable for?

This valve is ideal for high-pressure and high-temperature industrial systems, including chemical, petrochemical, and process pipelines. It is suitable for applications where compact, threaded connections are preferred over flanged or welded installations.

Why is 316L stainless steel used in construction?

316L stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance, durability, and resistance to pitting and chemical attack. Its low carbon content also reduces the risk of sensitization at high temperatures, making it well suited for harsh and aggressive environments.

What do Class 800 and NPT threaded connections mean?

Class 800 refers to the valve’s pressure–temperature rating, making it suitable for high-pressure service. NPT threaded connections conform to ASME B1.20.1 standards, providing precise, leak-tight connections that are ideal for compact piping systems where welding or flanged connections are impractical.

What is the advantage of hard-faced seats and graphite gaskets?

Hard-faced seats provide excellent wear resistance and long-term sealing integrity, even under continuous operation at high pressure. Graphite gaskets offer reliable sealing performance in elevated temperatures and aggressive media, ensuring safe and maintenance-free operation over time.
