Description

The A105 Forged Steel Swing Check Valve – Class 800 NPT/SW is designed for high-pressure, high-temperature service where strength, durability, and tight sealing are essential. Manufactured from ASTM A105 forged carbon steel, this valve provides excellent mechanical integrity and long service life in demanding process conditions.

Built to API 602 standards, this compact valve features a swing-type disc for smooth flow and automatic backflow prevention. The hard-faced seats (ASTM A182 F6a + Stellite) deliver exceptional wear resistance and maintain sealing integrity under severe pressure and temperature cycles. The graphite gasket ensures reliable sealing performance in high-temperature service.

Available with both NPT threads (ASME B1.20.1) and Socket Weld ends (ASME B16.11), it offers flexible installation options for piping systems where compact, threaded, or welded connections are preferred.

What is the purpose of a swing check valve?

A swing check valve allows fluid to flow in one direction while automatically preventing reverse flow. The swing-type disc opens fully during forward flow and closes when flow reverses, protecting pumps, pipelines, and downstream equipment from damage caused by backflow or pressure surges.

What applications are suitable for forged steel swing check valves?

Forged steel swing check valves are ideal for high-pressure and high-temperature industrial systems, including chemical, petrochemical, and power generation pipelines. They are suitable for service where strength, durability, and tight sealing are critical.

Why are forged steel bodies and hard-faced seats used?

ASTM A105 forged steel provides excellent mechanical strength and resistance to high-pressure conditions, while hard-faced seats (ASTM A182 F6a + Stellite) ensure exceptional wear resistance and long-term sealing integrity even under repeated high-pressure and temperature cycles.

What do Class 800, NPT, and socket weld connections indicate?

Class 800 refers to the valve’s pressure–temperature rating according to ANSI B16.34, suitable for demanding service. NPT threads conform to ASME B1.20.1 for precise, leak-tight connections, while socket weld ends conform to ASME B16.11, allowing secure, welded connections in compact piping systems.

What features help ensure reliable operation in high-temperature service?

Graphite gaskets provide effective sealing at elevated temperatures, while the swing-type disc ensures smooth, low-resistance flow. Combined with the hard-faced seats, these features ensure durable, maintenance-free operation in challenging industrial conditions.
