Description

The Cast Steel Gate Valve OS&Y Class 150 RF with hard faced seats is a heavy-duty flanged isolation valve designed for industrial, commercial, and process applications. Manufactured from ASTM A216 WCB cast steel, it provides strong mechanical performance and dependable service in suitable pipeline systems.

Gate valves are generally used for on/off isolation service, where the valve is operated in either the fully open or fully closed position. When fully open, the gate design provides a low-restriction flow path, making it suitable for applications where minimal pressure drop is preferred.

This valve features an outside screw and yoke design, stainless steel stem, graphite gaskets and packing, and hard faced seats for improved durability and wear resistance. It is supplied with ANSI B16.5 Class 150 raised face flanged connections, with face-to-face dimensions in accordance with ANSI B16.10. Design and manufacture are to API 600 or API 6D.

What is the primary purpose of a gate valve?

A gate valve is designed for complete shut-off and isolation of flow in pipelines. When fully open, the gate retracts entirely from the flow path, allowing minimal pressure loss and unobstructed flow, making it ideal for industrial applications such as steam, oil, and gas systems.

What does OS&Y (Outside Screw & Yoke) design mean?

The OS&Y design features a rising stem with threads located outside the process media. This provides clear visual indication of valve position, protects the stem from corrosion and wear, and simplifies maintenance, ensuring long-term reliable operation.

Why are hard-faced (HF) seats used in this valve?

Hard-faced seats provide exceptional resistance to wear, erosion, and high-pressure operation. They maintain tight sealing performance under demanding conditions, ensuring long service life even in high-temperature or abrasive applications.

Why is cast steel (ASTM A216 WCB) chosen for this valve?

Cast steel offers excellent mechanical strength, toughness, and durability. It can withstand high pressures, thermal stress, and mechanical loads, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, including steam, oil, gas, and general process systems.

What standards and flange specifications does this valve comply with?

This valve meets API 600 / API 6D design and manufacturing standards, uses ANSI B16.5 Class 150 RF flanges, and adheres to ANSI B16.10 face-to-face dimensions. Compliance with these standards ensures reliable sealing, secure connections, and full compatibility with industry-standard piping systems.
