Description

The Cast Steel OS&Y Gate Valve Class 600 is a heavy-duty isolation valve designed for high-pressure and high-temperature industrial applications. Manufactured from ASTM A216 WCB cast carbon steel, it offers outstanding strength, reliability, and performance in demanding service conditions such as oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and steam systems.

Featuring an Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) design, the valve provides visible stem position indication and keeps the stem threads outside the process media, reducing wear and extending service life. The hard-faced seats deliver superior sealing and erosion resistance, ensuring long-term tight shutoff even under severe operating conditions.

Engineered in accordance with API 600 / API 6D standards and ASME B16.34 pressure and temperature ratings, this valve guarantees durability and compliance with global performance specifications. The graphite gaskets and packing provide excellent sealing integrity at elevated temperatures, while the stainless steel stem ensures smooth operation and corrosion resistance.

With ANSI B16.5 Class 600 RF flanges and ANSI B16.10 face-to-face dimensions, it is fully compatible with standard piping systems and available in sizes from DN50 to DN600, with handwheel or gear operation options.

What is the primary function of a gate valve?

A gate valve is used for complete isolation of flow in pipelines. When fully open, the gate retracts entirely from the flow path, resulting in minimal pressure drop and unobstructed flow, making it ideal for high-pressure and high-temperature industrial systems.

What does OS&Y (Outside Screw & Yoke) design mean?

The OS&Y design features a rising stem with threads outside the process media, providing clear visual indication of valve position. This reduces wear on the stem, simplifies maintenance, and ensures smooth, reliable operation over time.

Why are hard-faced seats used in this valve?

Hard-faced seats offer superior erosion and wear resistance, maintaining tight sealing even under high pressures, high temperatures, and abrasive or corrosive media. This extends the valve’s service life and ensures dependable shut-off in demanding industrial applications.

Why is cast steel (ASTM A216 WCB) chosen for this valve?

Cast steel provides excellent mechanical strength, toughness, and durability, making it suitable for heavy-duty service in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, and steam systems. It ensures reliable performance under extreme pressure and temperature conditions.

What standards and flange specifications does this valve comply with?

This valve meets API 600 / API 6D design and manufacturing standards, ASME B16.34 pressure and temperature ratings, ANSI B16.5 Class 600 RF flanges, and ANSI B16.10 face-to-face dimensions. These standards ensure global compatibility, reliable performance, and secure connections in industrial piping systems.
