Description

The Stainless Steel Gate Valve OS&Y Class 150 is a robust flanged isolation valve designed for industrial, commercial, and process applications. Manufactured from ASTM A351 CF8M stainless steel, it provides excellent corrosion resistance and reliable performance across a wide range of compatible media.

Gate valves are generally used for on/off isolation service, where the valve is operated in either the fully open or fully closed position. When fully open, the gate design provides a low-restriction flow path, making it suitable for applications where minimal pressure drop is preferred.

This valve features an outside screw and yoke design, with a rising stem and non-rising handwheel, allowing the operator to visually confirm valve position. The bolted bonnet construction provides a strong and serviceable design for flanged piping systems.

The valve is supplied with ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flanged connections, with other flange drillings available on request. A flexible wedge design is included for sizes 2 1/2″ to 12″.

What is the primary function of a gate valve?

A gate valve is designed for on/off isolation service rather than flow regulation. When fully open, the gate is completely out of the flow path, resulting in minimal pressure drop and unobstructed flow, making it ideal for isolation duties in pipelines.

What does OS&Y (Outside Screw & Yoke) design mean?

An OS&Y design features an externally threaded stem that rises as the valve opens. This provides clear visual indication of valve position and keeps the stem threads outside the fluid, reducing wear and making maintenance easier and safer.

Why is 316 stainless steel used for gate valves?

316 stainless steel (ASTM A351 CF8M) offers excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and durability. It performs well in marine, chemical, and industrial environments, making it suitable for water, oil, steam, and corrosive media.

What is the benefit of a flexible wedge design?

A flexible wedge improves sealing performance by allowing slight movement to compensate for thermal expansion, pressure changes, or minor seat misalignment. This helps maintain tight shut-off and reduces the risk of binding during operation.

What does ANSI Class 150 flanged connection indicate?

ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flanges define the pressure–temperature rating and dimensional standards for the valve. This ensures compatibility with Class 150 pipeline flanges and provides secure, leak-tight bolted connections in standard industrial systems.
