Description

The Stainless Steel Gate Valve OS&Y Class 150 with hard faced seats is a heavy-duty flanged isolation valve designed for demanding industrial, commercial, and process applications. Manufactured from ASTM A351 CF8M stainless steel, it provides excellent corrosion resistance and dependable performance across a wide range of compatible media.

Gate valves are generally used for on/off isolation service, where the valve is operated in either the fully open or fully closed position. When fully open, the gate design provides a low-restriction flow path, making it suitable for applications where minimal pressure drop is preferred.

This valve features an outside screw and yoke design, with a stainless steel stem, graphite gaskets and packing, and hard faced seats for improved wear resistance and long-term sealing performance. The valve is supplied with ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flanged connections, with face-to-face dimensions in accordance with ANSI B16.10. Design and manufacture are to API 600 or API 6D.

What is the primary function of a gate valve?

A gate valve is designed for full shut-off and isolation in pipelines. When fully open, the gate retracts completely from the flow path, resulting in minimal pressure loss and unobstructed flow. It is ideal for industrial, marine, and process applications requiring reliable isolation.

What does OS&Y (Outside Screw & Yoke) design mean?

The OS&Y design features a rising stem with threads outside the fluid, providing a clear visual indication of valve position. This design keeps the stem protected from corrosion and wear, simplifies maintenance, and ensures smooth, reliable operation over time.

Why are hard-faced (HF) seats used?

Hard-faced seats provide exceptional wear and erosion resistance, maintaining tight sealing even under high-pressure, high-temperature, and abrasive service conditions. This ensures a long service life and dependable shut-off in demanding environments.

Why is 316 stainless steel used for the valve body?

ASTM A351 CF8M (316) stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and durability. It is particularly suitable for water, oil, gas, and steam systems, as well as chemical and marine environments where corrosion and pitting are concerns.

What standards and flange specifications does this valve comply with?

The valve is manufactured to API 600 / API 6D standards, with ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flanges and ANSI B16.10 face-to-face dimensions. These standards ensure secure connections, reliable sealing, and compatibility with industry-standard piping systems.
